Saturday, Oct. 17, at 6:00 p.m.: Mainland Jazz Collective
The high-energy jazz sextet Mainland Jazz Collective is coming to Hotel Birger Jarl to deliver a thrilling concert! With four albums under their belt and a long string of tours in Sweden and abroad, the band—despite its members’ young age—is well-established on the jazz scene and is considered one of the country’s leading jazz bands. The group is known for its polished and playful interplay, well-crafted arrangements, acrobatic solo performances, and a groove that blows the audience away. MJC’s new repertoire revolves around Swedish music from all corners of the country, which the band has reimagined in its own personal and ingenious way.
You can look forward to an exciting journey where, among other things, Alice Tegnér and Östen med resten are reimagined in wild and beautiful jazz arrangements!
Saturday, Oct. 17, at 8:00 p.m.: Lovisa Jennervall
With her warm tone and personal style, Lovisa Jennervall has made a distinct mark as a singer, composer, and arranger in the Swedish jazz scene. Both the album “What’s It All About?” (2021) with the band Ellas Kapell and her self-titled debut album, “Between You and Me” (2022), were named Vocal Jazz Album of the Year by LIRA magazine. In 2025, she was nominated for a Grammis Award for the album “Barnjazz på svenska” with Sture Kvintett. In April 2026, she released “blir det inte mer så är det nog,” an album featuring musical settings of poems by female poets, with which she has been touring ever since.
This evening, she will perform a concert featuring selected gems from various genres of jazz, alternating her own compositions with personal favorites written by others. All of this will take place in an intimate trio setting featuring some of Stockholm’s leading jazz musicians.
